Brand Focus: Pilgrim 55

So, as I hinted at the end of my last post, today, we're going to delve into some stunning skincare (alliteration goals)! And, no, today wasn't just an excuse to shoot outside (although you know I LOVE doing that) - this brand in question's products are 100% natural and organic, which definitely merits some floral and rustic adornment.

Pilgrim 55 is a Newcastle based skincare brand, specialising in the formulation and creation of skincare products that are natural, organic and ethical. Their aim is also to provide results for the skin without impacting our environment, hence why they have an extensive list of rather damaging ingredients that they DON'T use, such as:

  • Parabens
  • Sulphates
  • Silicon-derived Emollients
  • Petroleum and Mineral Oils
  • Diethanolamine (DEA)
  • Triethanolamine (TEA)
  • Ethyl and Isopropyl Alcohol

Quite frankly, I was incredibly impressed by their motto - natural skin care is always something I strive to support as much as possible here on my blog so I'm very proud and honoured to stand behind Pilgrim 55 and review their products. After chatting to the wonderful Simon Jameson (Chief Executive Officer) and deciding which products were best for my skin type, I got the opportunity to try out some of the range free of charge so, without further ado, let's get deep into some skincare.

Cucumber cleanser (120ml) - £11.99
To start with, I thought I'd go for with the largest of the products (120ml is a very generous size for this type of cream product) - the cleanser. For me, this cleanser does amazingly well at minimising redness and really refreshing the skin and has a very nice cooling sensation when applied which makes it really pleasant to use.

In addition to that, due to all of it's richly beneficial and stunning oils and ingredients, it's also visibly reduced my blemishes, which, of course, has really impressed me - I haven't been able to go back to anything else of late! The consistency is thick, though spreadable enough to glide over the face with ease (you guys know how I like it!). A little goes a long way folks, so this will definitely last you a while - for a quality product like this £11.99 is a bargain and I totally recommend making the purchase.

Stem Cell Active Face Mask (60ml) - £20.04
Following the order of my usual skincare routine, I'd then go in with this bad boy. The stem cell active face mask has been my lifeline of late for those typical weekdays in which my skin's looking as dead as my eyes are (lack of gives one the appearance of a two week old corpse) and really needs a pick me up.

After using this mask, my face always feels incredibly detoxed, almost as if my pores have really been relieved of all of the dirt that gathers throughout the day; it's almost like a weight being lifted off of my shoulders. Well, my face, to be more specific. I'm always in love with just how hydrated and soft to the touch my skin is (Hibiscus flower powder is the magical ingredient here) as a result of this mask and, with my dry skin, that really helps, as I hate waking up to dry patches in the morning. All in all, of course, this mask is a MUST HAVE within your skincare stash - I can't help but use it weekly and reap the benefits.

Stem Cell Facial Serum (60ml) - £24.99
In my opinion, this serum and the previous mask go hand in hand - using them consecutively is an absolute DREAM. I've enjoyed using this serum an awful lot and, overtime, I've noticed the difference it's made to my skin - notably improving the dark spots and uneven skintone.

As you can see, the texture, for a serum, is really unique, which I'm a massive fan of: originality is key if you want to thrive within the beauty community. The gel-like consistency is effortlessly cooling and lightweight upon application and after being worked in - you barely feel its presence upon the skin. However, despite not feeling it, I, of course, can see that it's helped provide me with a less dull looking complexion, which I'm very thankful for and makes it worth it.

Caffeine Rich super anti-ageing moisturiser (60ml) -£18.99
And last, but certainly not least (so typical of me, I know), this miracle moisturiser. The reason I'm not going to show you the inside of the tub is because I've used that much of it since the day it arrived that I'm dreadfully embarrassed. The main ingredient being coffee extract (packed full of antioxidants), this cream is so hydrating and smoothing, leaving my skin feeling satisfied, day AND night. This product, much like the serum, also has a very unique texture, feeling velvety and buttery to the touch, yet lightweight on the skin. The nourishment that this provides to my skin is amazing and I simply URGE you guys to try it out.

In conclusion, Pilgrim 55 is, for sure, a brand worth supporting and giving a go - from what I've seen, their products are innovative and stand out from the rest. They've, overtime, really helped with soothing my poor teenage skin (we've all been through it...) at the same time as treating it, which is all I could ever ask for from a set of products. Don't hesitate to purchase some of these beauties from the website - you can even get a further 15% discount using my exclusive code: MWL0115. Now, what are you waiting for? Go and try some Pilgrim 55 goodies out for less - you won't regret it.

  3. This is a new brand to me. I like to see brands not using parabens, but the packaging is turning me off. I prefer tubes to jars x

    1. Yes - I too am into their ingredients policy, as it keeps the products safe and natural. And yes, I do see where you're coming from gorge! x I personally don't mind jar formats as I think they're cute but some might think that they're impractical! I suppose you could just decant them into tubes because the product is definitely worth it! x

  16. Wow, I've never heard about this product before. Is it only sold in the UK or is it sold in the States? Do you know how it does on acne scars?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Firstly, thanks very much for reading Stephanie! x In regards to the acne scars, I have some myself and the mask and serum have really been helping to renew my skin cells, meaning that the skin has begun to bounce back to how it was originally and the scars are very much fading. So yes, very effective! Unfortunately, do forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Pilgrim 55 ship to the USA now, however, there is all possibility that they'll expand as they become more popular! Let's get them known because they deserve it! x

  25. I actually do enjoy natural skincare, but the whole "harmful ingredients" and "detoxifying" puts me off buying. There is no scientific backup to These accusations and neither mineral oil nor silicones are harmful to the skin. I guess i would use these brands a lot more if they just stopped doing that.

    1. Firstly, thanks for reading as usual Anne. There may not be any scientific proof to back these things up, however, I, personally, do take these things in mind and listen to the views of others and that's my choice but it doesn't have to be everybody's; it's perfectly fine that you don't. I fully support the exclusion of certain ingredients, although it's only alleged. xx
